His journey to PGA TOUR stardom - with wins at The Dell Technologies Championship (2015), Players Championship (2015) and Wells Fargo Championship (2012) - began in California at the Murrieta Valley Golf Range under the tutelage of his grandfather Taka Tanaka and coach Barry McDonnell.

Before turning pro in 2009, Fowler was regarded as one of the top amateurs in the world, reaching number one in the World Amateur Golf Rankings in 2007. He attended Oklahoma State University, where he won the 2008 Ben Hogan Award, given annually to the best player in college golf. Fowler pays tribute to his alma mater by wearing orange on Sundays.

Fowler has partnered with Farmers ® in numerous natural disaster recovery efforts. He made a special effort for the residents of Moore, Oklahoma, when a 2013 tornado devastated their city. In addition to matching a $100,000 donation for the Red Cross, he surprised golf teams at three local high schools with a clinic and new Cobra golf bags.
